KOTET looks to be continuing in that single player direction. TL DR- KOTFE was an expansion mostly for people who had been gone for a while or hadn't played before. Personally I sub for a month or two at a time to play new content/enjoy some nostalgia and then take long (6+ months) breaks afterwards as i've found that maintaining a sub any longer than that just isn't worthwhile. Leveling up is really fast nowadays and if you like the game enough to continue after finishing the initial 1-50 content then it's easy to take SWtOR on a month by month basis. I would consider subbing for a month (for $15 you get all the content) and running through a couple class stories just to see if it's worth your while and then going from there. The expansion storylines are pretty hit or miss and while some are worth checking out (Imperial side Rise of the Hutt Cartel especially) the most recent story arc and the one the new trailer is based on (Knights of the Fallen Empire/Knights of the Eternal Throne) have been pretty much universally panned due to a lack of uniqueness (every class has the same exact story with largely the same dialogue) or a lack of quality (the writing is below average for the majority of the 16 chapters released thus far and it's downright terrible in some parts being arguably the worst writing in a BioWare game). Some class stories are better than others (Agent, Warrior, Knight are great while Trooper, Counselor, Inquisitor are terrible) but as far as mostly on the rails RPG games go the stories are fun enough to merit checking out. The initial content that the game launched with (1-50, the original 8 class stories) is actually really good for the most part. If you want good stories in your video games then SWtOR might be worth looking into. I hate to use the phrase "dumbed down" because it gets thrown around a lot in gaming but in this case it's true as you can level to 65 by bashing your head against the keyboard the entire time. The combat is fun enough (it's a WoW clone) but not terribly deep and the solo content in the game is piss easy even as a new player. If you want a challenging solo RPG it also isn't for you. There is no indication that BioWare has plans to fix these issues or even cares about them so if you want a real MMO SWtOR is not for you. The endgame is pathetic compared to most other MMOs out there with PvP and raiding being in dire straits with no real fixes on the horizon most serious PvPers/raiders are long gone and progression has suffered mightily due to stagnation (no new raids in 2 years now, PvP being reduced to 4v4 arenas and the clusterfuck that is solo ranked). If you want a serious MMO that is challenging then SWtOR isn't for you. Is SWTOR worth trying?
